STREET THEATRE PROGRAM ON CHILD PROTECTION -  18.9.2016

As per requisition made by the District Child Protection Unit, Madurai, students from department of sociology and social work, Fatima College have organized Street Theatre program on child protection on 18.9.2016. The students performed street theatre on child protection at various places in Madurai headed by Ms.Rohini Ramdas, additional collector, Madurai district of Tamilnadu. The students performed street theatre on child protection at various places in Madurai namely Periyar Busstand, Railway Station, Meenakshi Temple, Annai Sathya Children’s Home, Auxiliam Childrens Home, LPNI Children’s Home and Mattuthavani Busstand. Our students have depicted how children are abused, neglected and exploited in the society through the street theatre. The program was more effective in successfully approaching the public to identify the tattered children in our society. The program has illustrated how to safeguard significantly harmed children in the society.  The public were refined to embark the District Child Protection Unit to safeguard the suffering children. The students had distributed pamphlet on Child Protection to the public in railway station and Mattuthavani bus stand. The students also collected the opinion on street theatre given on child protection. Many sources said the street theatre program much needed and useful for safeguarding the neglected children particularly girl children.
